Club issues Statement over Sheff Unt game

Leeds officials have released the following statement in response to claims that Sheffield United breached regulations by naming too many loan players in their squad for the derby at Bramall Lane on Saturday: “It is alleged that Sheffield United named six loan players on their team sheet for the game against Leeds United on Saturday.

"After the team sheets had been handed to the referee, one of their substitutes was subsequently withdrawn.

“The matter is therefore one for the Football League, the referee and Sheffield United.

"There are precedents in relation to the type of incident, which Leeds United itself was found guilty of, and subsequently fined, following a game at Burnley in November, 2006.

“As far as Leeds United are concerned the matter is closed.”
