Leeds Accept Bid For Howson

FROM THE CLUB WEBSITE

Leeds United can confirm the club has received an acceptable offer for Jonny Howson from Norwich City.
The club has reluctantly accepted the offer on the basis that the player only has six months of his current contract remaining and has expressed a desire that he would like to play Premier League football at the earliest opportunity.
The club has been in discussions with the player about a new contract at Elland Road for more than 12 months, but he has been steadfast in his position that he would like the opportunity to play Premier League football and on that basis Jonny hasn't felt in a position to commit himself to Leeds United at this moment in time.
The player would be able to leave on a free transfer at the end of his current contract.
While accepting the offer on Tuesday the player has still to agree terms with Norwich and we are disappointed the matter has become public at this stage.

  1. So What !!! A players career is a relatively short one and injuries can make it even shorter..so if a player wishes to move on to better himself then why should a 2nd division club stand in his way. Lets face it ..Leeds are going nowhere under this current regime and yes maybe last year we overachieved however prior to that we huffed and puffed to crawl out of the 3rd division! Face facts..Norwich were on a par with Leeds 3 years ago, and yet with shrewd management a bit of investment they are now holding there own in the Premiership!!!! So does that make Norwich a BIGGER club than Leeds..then unfortunately at this moment in time with the resources available then the painful answer is YES!!!! We Need a similar outlook to that taken when Howard Wilko took over..who was allowed to buy a team to get us out of the division and then tweak it to eventually compete and win the 1st division. I dont remember us getting any loan players or freebies to assit us in those days!!!!
