Leeds Set to Raid Pomey for Pearce

Leeds United are attempting to land Portsmouth defender Jason Pearce. The Yorkshire club are believed to have approached cash strapped Pompey to take the player on loan with a view to a permanent move.Leeds have tried to tempt Portsmouth with a part payment up front, and with the south coast club deep in the financial mire and desperate to raise cash to pay their outstanding £1.6 million tax bill it looks as if a deal could be on the cards. It appeared that the 24-year-old was on his way out of the club on transfer deadline day but a move to Ipswich failed to materialise.Pearce, who made the switch from Bournemouth in the summer, has established himself as a first-team regular making 26 appearance for the club He became an instant fan favourite establishing himself as one of the most consistent quality players in the team. On Saturday Pearce took the captain's armband in the match against Middlesbrough in a 3-1 loss which could possibly be the clubs last match, this was too much for the 24 year old captain who was reduced to tears at the end of the 90 minutes.
