Former Middlesbrough defender Gianluca Festa is set to take charge of Leeds's Championship fixture tomorrow after Brian McDermott was sacked by the club. Festa, the choice of incoming Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino, called a staff meeting at 5pm on Friday afternoon. The Italian coach explained that Brian McDermott had been sacked as manager and that he would be taking personal control of the first team with immediate effect. Festa is understood to have significantly altered the line-up for the critical home Championship meeting with Huddersfield Town. Several players who McDermott had selected for the game have been asked to stand down, with replacements called up and told to report early tomorrow for a shape-of-play session ahead of the kick-off.
