As speculation over the rumoured takeover of Leeds United grows a new name has emerged to the list of potential new owner of the club.Kenneth Griffin,self made billionaire and CEO of the Chicago based investment firm Citadel, appears to be emerging as the main player behind an American based consortium who are said to be interested in Leeds United.At this point it is unclear as to the consortium plans some have suggested that Griffin's Company Citadel may be involved negotiation's for the naming rights of Leeds United's Elland Road stadium. While others believe that a full takeover may be in process pointing to the fact that Leeds United recently announced plans to build a casino and according to a report in YEP a Chicago based consortium were recently given a tour of Elland road and Thorpe Arch.Griffin has a personal fortune estimated at around $2.2 billion while his company,Citadel is valued at around $11billion.He originally shunned publicity but in recent years has adopted a more prominent media profile appearing on the cover of Bloomberg magazine and giving interviews to the New York Times and Chicago Tribune.Griffin involvement in the Leeds United takeover is at the moment pure speculation however as one observer pointed out if reports of a Chicago based consortium are true then Kenneth Griffin is almost certainly involved in some way.
