Huddersfield 2-4 Leeds
Luciano Becchio's double helped Leeds clinch a third straight league victory as they saw off West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield.
Argentinian striker Becchio headed Leeds into a first-half lead after Michael Tonge cancelled out Chris Atkinson's opener for Huddersfield.
Former Leeds midfielder Adam Clayton equalised for the home side from the penalty spot just before half-time, but David Norris edged the visitors ahead midway through the second period and Becchio ensured a thrilling derby win for his side with a header in the 86th minute.
Town's on-loan Reading forward Simon Church and winger Danny Ward both tried their luck from outside the penalty area before the home side's early breakthrough.
Ward combined with Clayton on the edge of the area and the latter slipped the ball into the path of Atkinson, who ghosted in behind the Leeds defence to steer a neat finish into visiting goalkeeper Paddy Kenny's bottom right-hand corner.
The visitors began to look dangerous on the counter-attack and struck twice in as many minutes shortly before half-time to turn the game on its head.
Ross McCormack first teed-up Tonge on the edge of the area in the 35th minute and the Leeds midfielder's low side-footed shot went underneath Huddersfield goalkeeper Alex Smithies, who will argue his sight had been hindered by a dazzling sun.
Two minutes later, McCormack was the provider again, setting up Becchio in a similar position after another swift break by the visitors and the Argentinian slammed home his 13th goal of the season into the top corner.
But Becchio then turned villain for the visitors, penalised for pulling Huddersfield skipper Peter Clarke in the area following Ward's free-kick and Clayton stepped forward to steer the subsequent spot kick into the bottom corner.
Leeds were rewarded for another concerted spell of pressure with a third goal in the 70th minute. Substitute Ryan Hall beat his man on the edge of the box and squared the ball for Norris to bury a left-footed finish inside Smithies' left-hand post from 12 yards, leaving Becchio to close the show with Hall as the provider once more.

Leeds claim another Premiership scalp
Micheal Tonge scored and was inspirational in taking Leeds into the last eight of the Capital One Cup as they dominated a shocking Southampton side.
The Leeds midfielder struck after 35 minutes before El-Hadji Diouf and Luciano Becchio sealed the win late on to hand Leeds a deserved spot in the League Cup quarter-finals for the first time since 1996.
Leeds came into this game in confident mood having beaten Premier League high-flyers Everton in the last round of the Capital One Cup and they would have been further boosted when the Southampton team-sheet arrived. Having seen his Saints side lose their seventh Premier League game on Sunday, Nigel Adkins made 11 changes.
The hosts made the better start with Luke Varney somehow missing from just two yards in the first 15 minutes.
Aidan White pumped a long ball into the area that Diouf turned across to Varney and, despite Southampton goalkeeper Kelvin Davis being out of position, the Leeds forward fluffed the chance wide from two yards. However, Varney soon made amends, creating a deserved opener in the 35th minute. Davis could only push a low cross from the striker into the path of Tonge and the midfielder slotted the ball past two Saints defenders and into the net.
As Adkins opted against any changes at the break, Leeds continued to dominate after the restart and Varney should have scored again on the hour mark but Davis saved well.
Southampton had hardly made an impression and it was not until the 70th minute when they finally notched an attempt on goal, albeit hopelessly off target from Emmanuel Mayuka. Diouf then doubled the advantage in the 88th minute when Rudolph Austin’s strike was palmed into his path by a helpless Davis.
With the home fans still celebrating, Tonge was brought down in the area by Dan Seaborne and substitute Becchio converted from the spot.

Sheffield Wednesday 1-1 Leeds United
Former Sheffield United midfielder Michael Tonge rescued a point for Leeds to deny Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in a derby clash marred by crowd trouble.
Tonge, who spent a large chunk of his career under former Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock, fired home a swerving 25-yard shot in the 76th minute to cancel out Jay Bothroyd's first-half header and deny Wednesday a first win in eight league matches.
But despite rescuing a point with a much-improved second-half display, Leeds are sure to find themselves in serious trouble from the game's authorities after the mindless antics of one fan in particular, who celebrated Tonge's fine equaliser by running on to the pitch and hitting Wednesday goalkeeper Chris Kirkland in the face with two hands.
Riot police had earlier filtered out to try and diffuse ugly scenes in the away end prior to Tonge's strike, with bottles thrown between baying sets of home and away supporters.
Leeds boss Warnock, returning to his home city for the first time since former club Crystal Palace triumphed over the Owls at Hillsborough in an FA Cup tie in 2010, will have been grateful for Tonge's rescue act after his side stretched their unbeaten run to five matches despite being outplayed for long periods.
Wednesday have now failed to win any of their last eight league games, collecting only two points in the process and the pressure is mounting on manager Dave Jones.
Irish midfielder Paul Corry made his league debut for the Owls and defender Daniel Jones returned to the starting line-up, while Leeds were unchanged from the side that beat Barnsley last time out.
Wednesday made the more promising start. Chris O'Grady headed straight at Paddy Kenny in the sixth minute and the former Sheffield United goalkeeper let Bothroyd's fierce 20-yard drive slip through his hands and on to the crossbar soon after, with the ball bouncing down a yard from his goalline.
Wednesday skipper Anthony Gardner then spurned a gilt-edged chance when he headed Bothroyd's free-kick over the crossbar with only Kenny to beat as Leeds rode the early storm.
Leeds responded with a fine free-kick from another former Sheffield United player, Michael Tonge, whose curling effort from 25 yards following Gardner's foul on El-Hadji Diouf had Owls keeper Chris Kirkland scrambling to palm clear at full stretch.
Leeds were given a real let-off in the 23rd minute by referee Eddie Ilderton, who somehow failed to see Leeds forward Luciano Becchio handle the ball when diving in his own penalty area to head clear Bothroyd's 23rd-minute corner.
But Wednesday, belying their lowly status, secured the lead they deserved two minutes before the break.Long-throw specialist Michail Antonio launched a missile into the Leeds box from the left and Bothroyd rose highest to head home unopposed, low into Kenny's right-hand corner.
Leeds midfielder Rodolph Austin, who arrived back in Leeds this morning following international duty with Jamaica, made way for David Norris at half-time.
Leeds were more purposeful after the restart and went close to an equaliser through another free-kick from Tongue after Gardner had been booked for his high tackle on Diouf.
But although the visitors spent longer periods in Wednesday's half, they failed to create any clear-cut chances and had it not been for Leeds skipper Lee Peltier's excellent block, Bothroyd's shot from Antonio's cutback would have found its target.
Peltier was replaced by forward Luke Varney, who spent three spells on loan at Hillsborough, in the 66th minute, but it was the home side who threatened again when Antonio's shot following a defensive mix-up was deflected for a corner.
The atmosphere turned ugly at the Leeds end with 20 minutes to go, with extra police required to quell an angry exchange between both sets of fans intent on throwing bottles.
Tonge's brilliant equaliser in the 76th minute following Aidy White's lay-off then prompted some Leeds fans to pour through fencing, with one supporter run round in front of Kirkland's goal before pole-axing the Wednesday keeper by pushing both hands into his face.
Kirkland required treatment before the game could resume and although Owls substitute Danny Mayor went close with a shot blocked by Jason Pearce in the closing stages, the home side had to settle for a point.

Bristol City 2-3 Leeds United
El-Hadji Diouf’s second-half double helped Leeds register their third straight win and back-to-back successes in the npower Championship. The controversial Senegalese striker raised eyebrows when teaming up with Leeds manager Neil Warnock in the summer, but has been grabbing the attention for all the right reasons in recent weeks.Diouf, instrumental in the midweek Capital One Cup win over Everton, opened the scoring just after the hour, and although Albert Adomah equalized, he struck again nine minutes from time as Leeds regained the lead.
Midfielder Michael Tonge’s thunderbolt clinched Leeds a two-goal advantage with seven minutes remaining and although Adomah’s corner deflected off Leeds defender Sam Byram in the 90th minute for an own goal, Warnock’s men saw out the remaining minute.
City were dealt a blow just before half-time when defender George Elokobi, making his debut after signing on loan from Wolves, required medical attention following an awkward landing while blocking a cross and was later carried off on a stretcher. Teenager Joe Bryan replaced him.
Striker Jon Stead was the second of three changes for City, while midfielder Neil Kilkenny was back to face his former club.Goalkeeper Paddy Kenny and skipper Lee Peltier returned to Leeds’ starting line-up.Leeds winger Aidy White tested City goalkeeper Tom Heaton with an early header and Kenny did well to hold Robins striker Ryan Taylor’s 20-yard shot in a see-saw opening.
The home side went closest to taking the lead in the 15th minute when Liam Fontaine lashed a close-range volley off target and Kenny was in the right place again soon after to catch Stead’s header from Martyn Woolford’s free-kick.
Stead fired a 20-yard shot straight at the Leeds goalkeeper and miscued from six yards in the 35th minute either side of Leeds midfielder Rudy Austin’s textbook volley, which was comfortably snaffled by Heaton.
Woolford went closest to breaking the deadlock when he headed Richard Foster’s inch-perfect cross just wide from eight yards.
But it was Leeds who twice threatened to forge ahead shortly after the restart through Austin.
The Jamaica international first headed Diouf’s free-kick against the woodwork with Heaton well beaten and then forced the City keeper into a fine save with another header moments later.
Leeds were not to be denied in the 64th minute however. Byram drilled in a superb low cross from the right and Diouf steered the ball into the far corner.
But the Robins refused to buckle and were back on level terms within six minutes.
Right-back Foster swung over another telling cross and Adomah flung himself at the ball to head powerfully home.
Leeds continued to carry the greater threat though and regained the lead in the 81st minute when Diouf pounced in the penalty area to lash home his second following good work by Luciano Becchio.
The visitors effectively put the game to bed two minutes later when Tonge stepped on to the ball 25 yards from goal and unleashed an unstoppable shot into Heaton’s top left-hand corner.
There was still time for City to pull one back when Adomah’s corner flew into the net off Byram’s head, but Leeds held on.

Leeds Land Tonge
Michael Tonge has joined Leeds United on loan until the end of the year. The 29-year-old midfielder links back up with Neil Warnock at Elland Road following a fruitful relationship between the pair at Sheffield United earlier in his career.Tonge, who hasn’t featured for the Potters in over twelve months, made his name under Warnock at Bramall Lane, where he featured in over 300 games during a successful nine-year spell there.Tony Pulis confirmed the news on Thursday morning to stokecityfc.com, saying: “This is a great move for Michael, and I am sure he will go there and do extremely well for them.“He is a great lad, but as with the others who haven’t been named in the 25-man squad here, it is vitally important for them to get out there and play regularly.”This will be the midfielder’s fifth loan move away from the Britannia Stadium, having already spent time with Preston and North End, on two occasions, Derby County and more recently Barnsley.
His last involvement in a Stoke City shirt came during the Club’s 1-0 Europa League Qualifying victory against Swiss side FC Thun in August last year.

Leeds interested in Tonge
Leeds United manager Neil Warnock is considering making a loan move for Stoke City midfielder Michael Tonge.Warnock has been assessing a number of different options since injuries to David Norris and Michael Brown left him critically short of central midfielders, and he wants to bring in some midfield cover ahead of Leeds' weekend trip to Cardiff City he is also rumoured to be interested in Tottenham's Jermaine Jenas. The Yorkshire Post believes the Leeds boss, who managed Tonge for six years at Sheffield United, wants to bring him to Elland Road after the 29-year-old was left out of Stoke's 25-man squad for the Premier League.Tonge moved to the Britannia Stadium in 2008 but has made just 19 first-team appearances for Tony Pulis' side and has had loan spells in the Championship over the last four years with Preston North End, Derby County and Barnsley, who he played for in the second half of last season.
