Arrest warrant out for Leeds United winger

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Leeds United star Robert Snodgrass after he failed to turn up for a court appearance.
Scotland-born Snodgrass was due to attend Glasgow's Justice of the Peace Court last Thursday in connection with an alleged driving offence in the city.

Tonight a spokesman for Leeds United told the YEP that Snodgrass's non-appearance at court had been a result of a "misunderstanding."

The spokesman went on: "Robert is assisting the authorities in getting the matter resolved."

Snodgrass is accused of parking on a pelican crossing in Glasgow's Duke Street on February 28 last year.
He was originally due in court in connection with the matter last August but did not show up, leading to a warrant being issued for his arrest.

The nature of the offence, however, led prosecutors to hold back from asking the police to detain the player and he was instead instructed to attend court last Thursday.

It is understood that, following the second non-appearance, it will again be up to prosecutors to decide whether to get the police to follow through with Snodgrass's arrest or simply issue a fresh court date.

Snodgrass has become a firm favourite with Leeds supporters since he joined the Whites from Scottish club Livingston in the summer of 2008.

He made national sporting headlines earlier this month after scoring at Premier League giants Arsenal in the third round of the FA Cup.
