Leeds Sign Celtic Defender

Leeds United are set to sign Celtic defender Darren O'Dea.The 24-year-old spent last season on-loan at Championship side Ipswich, before returning to Celtic for pre-season.Now he is heading back south of the border to link up with Leeds in a similar deal.Leeds are set to conclude his signing in the next 24-hours, and he will spend the whole season at Elland Road.Republic of Ireland international O'Dea will be eligible to make his Leeds debut in their Championship opener at Southampton on Saturday.
O’Dea looked poised for a glittering future at Celtic when he played alongside Stephen McManus in the 2007 Champions League ties against AC Milan with the Italians, who went on to lift the trophy, only breaching the Celtic defence in extra-time when Kaka scored in the San Siro.
Gordon Strachan’s insistence on playing Steven Pressley and Gary Caldwell thwarted O’Dea’s development although he proved to be a more than able deputy when called upon.
Loan spells at Reading and Ipswich were clear signals that his future lay away from Celtic Park with the defender looking forward to the next chapter in his career.
