David Stockdale Loan to Leeds Latest

David Stockdale's proposed season long loan move has stalled.Fulham and Leeds United have been locked in negotiations Leeds had agreed to pay half of Stockdale's reported £12000 a week wages but were not prepared to have a clause, which would allow Fulham to recall the player with twenty four hours notice,placed in the contract.Fulham also,according to a source close to the negotiations, wanted a clause which meant that Leeds would have to pay them £500000 if Stockdale did not play 35 games for Leeds.The latest developments are that Leeds are still keen to do a deal however it appears Fulham are now trying to get them to pay a 'Loan Fee'of £250000-Loan fees have started to become standard, especially for established players on top of the wage commitment. Effectively, Fulham are now asking Leeds United to pay the players wages in full, plus a little extra.Stockdale told a local paper yesterday "I need games,We've signed a new keeper so I might be able to go out on loan."I'm definitely looking to get out and get some games and I think the manager is thinking the same thing.I came to show what I can do and I want to go out and do that again. You can't rest on your laurels and need to continue proving yourself all the time."
Leeds remain in talks with Fulham but any deal is unlikely to happen until after Fulham's Europa League qualifier with Crusaders on Thursday.

Fulham keeper David Stockdale is set to join Leeds on a season-long loan deal.New Cottagers boss Martin Jol is ready to allow Stockdale to move on a temporary transfer after snapping up Csaba Somogyi on a free from Hungarian outfit Rakospalotai.Leeds have been seeking a new No1 after selling Kasper Schmeichel to Championship rivals Leicester for £1.2million last month.They have been linked with Real Madrid's Liverpool hero Jerzy Dudek, Iain Turner, who's been freed by Everton, and Burnley's Lee Grant.But manager Simon Grayson set his sights on Stockdale, 25, after missing out on Preston's Andy Lonergan, who is heading for a re-union with his former Deepdale boss David Moyes at Everton.Premier League new boys Swansea had hoped to grab Stockdale after losing Dutch keeper Dorus de Vries to Wolves on a three-year deal.But Jol refuses to sell Leeds-born Stockdale, because he rates him highly and sees him as successor to 38-year-old Mark Schwarzer.

He will also not allow him to join another Premier League side on loan as he would not be able to invoke a 24-hour recall clause in a move of that nature.

Stockdale, who played at York and Darlington before completing a £600,000 switch to Craven Cottage three years ago, would jump at the chance to link-up with his hometown team and get regular first-team football.

Fulham's goalkeeping coach Hans Segers confirmed: "I can see something happening in the next few days."

Fulham goalkeeper and Swansea target David Stockdale is prepared to go out on loan next season in order to get regular first-team football.The former Darlington man, 25, impressed enough during seven Premier League appearances last term to force his way into England squads, but he expects to remain understudy to Mark Schwarzer during Martin Jol's first season in charge at Craven Cottage.And although he revealed that the club do not want to sell him, he spoke with excitement about the potential of a move to Swansea.
When asked if he fancied a move to Swansea he told Sky Sport News: ‘Definitely. What a club to go to.
‘They’ve just come up. It would suit me down to the ground.’
But Stockdale accepts that he may have to drop down into the Championship for a season if a move to Wales fails to materialise and it is believed that Fulham are not prepared to sell or loan him to any Premiership rivals.I think (Jol) might stay with Mark (Schwarzer), which is understandable, so it might be a chance for me to go out on loan.'
‘They’ve signed a new goalkeeper (Hungarian Csaba Somogyi), so hopefully that paves the way for a loan move. I want to play games.
‘It’s not about being part of the Premier League and sitting on the bench. It’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but I want to be playing games.
‘If there isn’t a Premier League option I might have to go down the league.Stockdale's wife however may hold the key,Kate is originally from Leeds and now living in Surrey with David and their children,On Sunday evening a Swansea fan Tweeted her on the social networking site Twitter asking her "can u get your other half to sign for Swansea City????????".Her reply was "It would be great for him to be playing prem football but to be honest, I'm hoping for Leeds, I wanna go home!!!"To add further weight to the rumours David may be on his way to Leeds when tweeted and asked when he would next be in Leeds he replied " not sure yet could be sooner rather than later!"
