Major Gamble on Simon Grayson to be next Aston Villa Manager

Villa hoped to fill the vacancy created by Gerard Houllier's health problems by poaching Roberto Martinez from Wigan Athletic, but the Spaniard revealed on Friday he planned to stay at the DW Stadium.
Ex-Fulham boss Mark Hughes, Bolton Wanderers' Owen Coyle and Everton's David Moyes were all linked with the job in Saturday's papers, but bookmaker William Hill revealed this afternoon there was a serious new contender to take charge at Villa Park.Graham Sharp, the firm's media relations director, announced Grayson had been backed in from 50/1 to 5/2 favourite, after a series of bets were placed on him online and at a North Yorkshire betting shop.'The source of the bets would not give the lie to suggestions that someone connected to Leeds may have had the nod that Grayson was a serious contender for Villa,' Mr Sharp said.
Grayson has become a firm favourite at Elland Road since leaving Blackpool to take charge at Leeds in 2008.

He guided the Whites to promotion from League One in 2010 and to a seventh-placed finish in the Championship last season
